Adding explanations and annotations
Preferences become far more useful when they explain themselves. In PerfectIt you can customize the message shown to users, so if you're building a house style for a team, you can add guidance; if you work alone, you can leave yourself reminders.
Add an explanation that appears in PerfectIt
Use the reserved words because or and explain that to add an explanation. (PerfectIt calls these Style Instructions.) Your message is shown whenever the term is found:

notrenal)becauseCheck carefully. There are exceptions (e.g. referring to eligibility for medical care under US legislation)
Now, when you export the style to PerfectIt, that explanation appears every time renal is found.
Add a private annotation
Sometimes you want to store background information in Styleworks that isn't for everyone to see, like the source of a rule.
Use two forward slashes to add an annotation. Anything after // stays in Styleworks and is never sent to PerfectIt.
