Will the explanations I write appear in PerfectIt?

That’s up to you. Styleworks distinguishes between explanations for PerfectIt users and private notes:

1. Anything you add with the reserved words because or and explain that becomes an explanation, and appears in PerfectIt as Style Instructions, shown whenever that preference is found. This is ideal for house styles where your team needs to know why a rule exists, or for reminders to yourself.

2. Anything you write after two forward slashes (//) is a private annotation. It stays in Styleworks and is never exported to PerfectIt, which is useful for recording sources, such as the style manual from which a preference originates.

3. You can also create sections in Styleworks that are not Preference Lists. Here you can create any additional notes and details you might need for your style sheet and editing process (such as additional rules, checklists, etc.). These are not exported to PerfectIt.
